The Senior Photographer will be responsible for executing high-quality, digital photography for web and print advertising that meets creative, sales, marketing and production objectives within designated time-lines. The Senior Photographer directs team tasks to attain a smooth work-flow and reach team goals and will assist in the coaching and development of Assistant Photographers, stylist and staff. 


  • Manage duties in all stages of product photography from initial capture to upload to retouching
  • Set up, light and capture digital fashion images, ensuring technical, creative and brand integrity within designated deadlines
  • Participate in the creation of fashion photo concepts to meet the requirements of the creative director and brand director
  • Maintain proper file management, accurate naming and detailed retouching notes
  • Ensure shot counts are met and daily workload is accurately documented and completed
  • Execute post-capture retouching, including creative editing, color correction, file formatting, and paths
  • Maintain proper care, upkeep and maintenance of the photo studio workspace, equipment & supplies
  • Produce and retouch creative assets in line with rue21 branding and advertising needs
  • Create, update, and implement photo initiatives for creative image inventory
  • Maintain and updating the standard styling guideline to ensure it is on brand
  • Delegate duties and tasks with team members to attain daily work-flow
  • Film and edit staff training videos
  • Participate in the building/construction of sets


  • 4+ years commercial fashion photography leading photo team(s) in a commercial setting; experience with on model, location and still-life product styling; prior fashion and/or retail experience preferred
  • 4+ years Photoshop, Capture One, Mac OS, Natural + Artificial Lighting
  • Experience with professional DSLR cameras, lenses, and lighting
  • Proficient skills in MS Office Suite, Outlook and Internet applications; proficient on both PC and MAC platforms
  • Ability to effectively handle changing priorities
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Must stoop, squat, bend, climb, and kneel to take pictures from different angles
  • Photo studio/DC environment with dust, plants/food, flashing lights
  • Work on location, including a variety of outdoor locations, garages, residences, businesses, etc.
  • Management experience which has involved training and mentoring staff, Jr. Photographers and stylist
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
