Overview

As the Logistics Intern, you will partner with our Logistics, Distribution and Inventory departments located in rue21’s Weirton, WV Distribution Center (DC).  You will provide support related to inbound logistics flow of merchandise to the DC and outbound logistics flow of merchandise to stores and customers.   

 

This is a paid internship (40 hours per week).  The duration of the Summer Internship Program is approximately 12 weeks.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with stores and internal partners to ensure product is being delivered on time & accurately
  • Track shipments daily to report updates and prepare/file claims with carriers as needed
  • Maintain OS&D accountability system to capture and report company loss while improving metrics
  • Collect, aggregate, monitor, and analyze data for inbound/outbound shipments
  • Respond to inbound purchase order (PO) inquiries from third party carriers, the Merchandise Control department, and distribution services as needed
  • Complete a collaborative group project and presentation of a business initiative
  • Provide administrative support to the Logistics department and assist with reporting
  • Complete special projects as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Junior or Senior year
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, as well as work experience in customer service and/or sales; prior retail experience a plus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, problem-solving and presentation skills
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, while operating independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt well to change in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
