Overview

The Project Manager will align with business, IT and external technology partners to implement new technology solutions that will scale to support rue21’s eCommerce growth. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including but not limited to the following; developing ROI based analysis for executive management when evaluating new process and technology solutions, providing analytical, technical, business and/or management expertise to the project team and serving as a change agent for the project and business.

Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role in the IT Department by assembling and managing cross functional teams for projects, new system analysis and system support.
  • Responsible for all phases of the project implementation of technology solutions including project management, analysis, design, configuration, development, testing, and implementation.     
  • Work with the business to determine the most effective use of the existing systems and how they can be fully utilized.
  • Technical and analytical guidance to project team members, so that their abilities and project quality are enhanced.
  • Manage the development and support activities for respective area to include, project requests, system enhancements, problem resolution/management, and application maintenance.
  • Track projects to keep on schedule and to adjust resource allocation based on work prioritization using input from multiple managers that tracks all phases of the project from discovery through deployment and completion.
  • Provides technical coordination of project teams, and direct administrative supervision.
  • Ensures minimal disruption of production systems by coordination and effective integration with existing systems.
  • Secure business “buy-in” on all aspects of the project.
  • Meets with business partners at all levels to gather business systems requirements.
  • Writes and/or reviews system specification, test plans and test scripts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or related field required.
  • 7+ years' experience in various phases of the project life cycle for multi-million dollar projects in a retail environment.
  • Minimum 5 years IT project management experience with eCommerce or Omni Channel systems in a retail environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects using waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise level eCommerce systems such as Demandware, Oracle ATG, Hybris.
  • Prior retail/eCommerce or multi location experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
