Overview

As an Inventory Planner, you will work to ensure the correct sales and inventory plans are in place for all of comparable (comp) stores. This will include the identification of store level sales and inventory opportunities each week, and the need to work with the Allocation team to execute required changes. This role supports the Company’s extensive new store opening and relocation strategy by ensuring the correct sales and inventory plan for each opening store.

Responsibilities

  • Develop store sales and inventory unit plans down to the department level. Review store size, type and seasonality to determine the optimal levels to achieve sales, turn and gross margin plans. Work closely with Merchandising and Allocation to ensure inventory goals are met.
  • Establish a perspective on weekly flow to store requirements, and work with Planning, Merchandising and Allocation to ensure expectations are met.
  • Develop and maintain store level sales and inventory exception reporting, to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Liaison to the field and merchandising teams. Communicate deficiencies to plan and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Review store selling by classification and store type. Communicate sales and inventory imbalances.
  • Recommend monthly sales and inventory unit plans for all stores. Review inventory to sales contribution accounting for store seasonality by week and upload the finalized plans into the planning system.
  • Support Merchandise Planning during financial planning process by development of pre-season sales and inventory unit plans. Collaborate with Merchandise Planning and Merchandising teams to influence financial budget by identifying inventory and sales opportunities at individual store and store group levels.
  • Take the lead position on department initiatives such as testing new forecasting methods and developing best practices/processes
  • Potential responsibility for the development of one or multiple direct reports 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in Store/Location Planning, Allocation, or Merchandise Planning preferred
  • Strong quantitative aptitude
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Excel as well as other MS Office Suite applications, and Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
