Overview

The Photographer will be responsible for shooting tabletop, on-figure, and lay-down images for rue21.com's product pages and special projects related to marketing campaigns. This position will also have responsibility for lighting as well as some retouching and styling.

Responsibilities

  • Light, style, compose and photograph a wide range of retail products both on table-top and on figure to be presented on the rue21 website as well as for social media, marketing, store signage, look books and PR.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of all photography.
  • Maintain day-to-day workflow/objectives to ensure tight deadlines are met, coordinate with Sr. Photographer for daily shot count expectations.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Photographer, studio manager, web photographers and stylists, as well as the retouching and merchandising teams to accurately represent all products online.
  • Maintain proper file naming and image protocol for upload and archiving.
  • Assist with maintaining reference guides for all lighting scenarios and updating image “match-back” files as needed.
  • Coordinate with other departments for product workflow for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure proper placement of finished images in the DAM (Digital Asset Management) system.
  • Share responsibility for photo studio workspace and equipment.
  • Complete special projects, as needed, both on- and off-site.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Photography or related field required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 2+ year experience in studio based Photography
  • Experience with studio lighting and shooting in studios
  • Must be proficient on both PC and MAC platforms
  • Knowledge of 35mm digital SLR systems
  • Sharp eye for product photography and attention to detail
  • Prior retail experience preferred
  • Retouching skills a plus 
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment
