rue21 is currently seeking a Web Copywriter to produce copy for digital channel, promotions, email campaigns, social networks and various other marketing materials. As a member of the rue21 team, the Web Copywriter will play a pivotal role in writing clear, detailed, accurate and precise product specific copy for a wide assortment of merchandise and marketing materials.


  • Be the central brand voice.
  • Draft copy for emails campaigns, web content, social networks and similar materials to publish on schedule.
  • Create keyword-rich content, tag lines and product descriptions to engage consumers and optimize for SEO.
  • Working with other team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and brand guidelines
  • Proofread/edit copy for proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure before publishing.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current fashion trends, clothing styles and terminology.
  • Write, post and monitor all content for the social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the web site’s content using our Content Management System (CMS).


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or Marketing.
  • 1+ years' experience in copywriting in retail/consumer goods (preferably 1-2 years in apparel).
  • Should have familiarity with SEO copywriting and superior proofreading skills.
  • Ability to grasp and understand web site tonality.
  • Demonstrate accurate, fact checking skills.
  • Previous experience with a content management system (CMS).
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications and email programs required.
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business demands.
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with HTML and Dreamweaver preferred.
  • Excellent written command of the English language and grammar.
