  • Overview

    As the Senior Graphic Designer, you will support rue21’s brand through concept creation and design. This position will be responsible for giving art direction for print campaigns, creating in store collateral, packaging, and advertising materials that will creatively and consistently reflect the Company's brand identity. This position requires a creative candidate able to see a project through the design lifecycle for all of our print packages.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for developing original designs and seeing all projects through to completion, to involve concept and design to final print production
    • Managing multiple design projects which involves working closely with the Marketing Team, cross-functional internal business partners as well as close communication with suppliers/vendors to create collateral, promotional and advertising pieces
    • Close collaboration with the Sr. Brand Manager and Sr. Director of Marketing on the design and production of all in store and web assets
    • Understands the brand and applies established brand standards and formats when necessary
    • Developing graphics for large and small print formats
    • Assisting in planning and art directing photo shoots
    • Available to go on press checks

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field
    • Seven+ years’ experience working within a design firm or related creative environment
    • Five+ years’ experience on press checks with a solid understanding of the printing process
    • Five+ years’ experience art directing photo shoots, preferably with both studio and location photography
    • Expertise in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
    • Prior retail marketing experience required – apparel marketing experience preferred
    • Strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, packaging, branding, typography, catalog production, retail graphics and a preference for some experience with web design
    • Ability to present concepts/ideas to senior management
    • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
    • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
    • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
    • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
    • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
    • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment
