  • Overview

    The Benefits Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations and administration of Benefits, communication and rue21’s Wellness Program, while providing constant communication and superior customer service. The Benefits Coordinator will support the Support Center, Distribution Center and Field while complying with Federal, State and Local Laws as well as Company Policies and vendor contracts.


    Benefits Orientation, Enrollment & Communication:

    • Communicate benefit eligibility and conduct benefit orientation with new hires and eligible Associates     
    • Answer benefit hotline calls and respond to general benefit e-mail inquiries to new hires and management
    • Process paper Benefit Election Forms via ADP, and verify forms for proof of Qualifying Events
    • Receive and review National Medical Support Notices to determine eligibility and process.
    • Create, Coordinate and maintain Benefits communications to promote Benefits and ensure compliance with eligibility, enrollment windows, and Evidence of Insurability
    • Run and distribute benefit reports 


    • Promote and Deliver wellness programs and activities that meet the needs of our associates; i.e. Wellness Challenges, healthy eating, chair massages, flu shots, standing work stations
    • Identify indicators and metrics of successful outcomes to quantify positive ROI for each program.
    • Create educational communication and information including the wellness portion of the monthly HR newsletter
    • Explore areas for improvement across all programs, introduce ideas for new programs and ways to enhance existing ones.


    • Support the benefits department with administrative tasks such as filing and mail distribution
    • Complete special projects as assigned


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
    • 0-1 years’ Human Resources experience within benefits administration
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of state and federal benefit laws and regulations
    • Prior experience with ADP EV5, and ADP HWSE preferred
    • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) & Internet applications
    • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
    • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
    • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
    • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
    • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment
