  • Overview

    The Digital Marketing Intern will integrate data from various data sources to deliver valuable insights which can be transformed into actionable strategies across the entire business. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization and key external partners to answer key business questions.  Drive wider business engagement with reports.


    This is a paid internship (40 hours per week). The duration of the Summer Internship Program is approximately 12 weeks beginning in May 2019.



    • Monitor, analyze, and report performance of rue21.com using site analytics tools such as Google Analytics (and others) focusing on purchasing behavior, traffic drivers, site experience, site functionality, site enhancements, and online marketing campaign performance
    • Pull data from the company’s data warehouse to analyze customer, order, and product information
    • Merge data from multiple sources to create recurring reports and support ad-hoc analysis requests which measure and monitor results and performance
    • Support A/B testing and optimization initiatives including set up, running, and reporting
    • Develop and execute promotional campaign segmentations and post-promotion analyses
    • Query CRM database to provide regular reporting and to answer ad-hoc business questions around customer trends, retention, composition, and behavior
    • Develop and update CRM dashboards to highlight customer trends and campaign performance; analyze and present findings to key stakeholders



    • Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in your Junior or Senior year; graduating seniors strongly preferred
    • Marketing, Business, or related majors strongly preferred
    • Must love using data to answer difficult business questions
    • Extremely detailed oriented
    • Ability to take direction and work independently to finalize assignments
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, as well as work experience in customer service and/or sales; prior retail experience a plus
    • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
    • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
    • Strong analytical, prioritizing, problem-solving, and presentation skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to adapt well to change in a fast- paced environment
