  • Overview

    The Information Technology Service Desk Intern will learn how deliver supreme customer service while supporting rue21’s Corporate, Distribution Center, Stores, and Field Associates. The position will provide exposure to one or more of the following computer disciplines: Service Desk, PC Break/Fix, Desktop Software Support, Computer Operations, and others.


    This is a paid internship (40 hours per week). The duration of the Summer Internship Program is approximately 12 weeks beginning in May 2019.




    • Complete a collaborative group project and presentation of a business initiative
    • Provide administrative support to the IT department
    • Complete special projects as assigned
    • Provides supreme customer service while supporting rue21 corporate, distribution center, stores, and field associates.
    • Responds to telephone calls, emails and personnel requests for technical support in a courteous manner
    • Performs post-resolution follow-ups to help requests
    • Researches and resolves technical issues
    • Works with system and hardware vendors to resolve issues
    • Escalates issues requiring specialized technical knowledge to the appropriate systems, development and support personnel
    • Documents, tracks and monitors issues to ensure a timely resolution


    • Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in your Junior or Senior year
    • Information Technology or related majors strongly preferred
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on relationship-building, listening, questioning, and analytical skills
    • Basic training and knowledge specific to hardware platforms, operating systems,      communication networks, and personal computers
    • Experience with use of Microsoft 7, and Office 2010
    • Experience with Apple/Mac systems a plus
    • Prior help desk and/or PC lab experience preferred
    • Experience with, or knowledge of, POS software preferred
    • Retail systems experience and/or retail customer service experience preferred
    • Demonstrated leadership ability, as well as work experience in customer service and/or sales; prior retail experience a plus
    • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to adapt well to change in a fast-paced environment
