  • Overview

    The Category Manager will be responsible for all aspects of merchandise selection for the website, placement of merchandise messages on the website, analysis of product sales and markdowns to optimize margins and profitability for the website.


    • Coordinates merchandise buys in partnership with the Buying team for the chain and determines the right product and volume buys for the website.
    • Analyze the product sales for the website that add sales and margin to the total company and make recommendations for special product buys and the appropriate all company buys
    • Develop strategies and criteria for optimal pricing strategies in partnership with planning
    • Develop effective cross functional relationships with Buying, Planning, Information Technology, Marketing and Supply Chain to maximize sales and profitability.
    • Develop/manage/evaluate relationships with other internal departments including but not limited to Legal, Human Resources, and Distribution.
    • Build the Brands in all product messages on the website.
    • Coordinate with marketing, visual and strategic merchandise control for the right sales promotion and other marketing messages for the website
    • Manage and develop Site Merchandisers
    • Maintain and update open-to-buy daily, weekly and monthly


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field
    • Three+ years' experience as Buyer
    • Strong understanding of planning and how to execute to a financial plan
    • Prior managerial/supervisor experience
    • Prior retail experience preferred
    • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
    • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
